Claudio Arezio owner of the "Liuteria" was born in Florence on March 29th 1955. In 1979, after having completed his Architectural studies at the University of Florence he turned to violin-making under the guidance of Master Igino Sderci and Roberto Ignesti. He is specialized in making violins, violas and cellos, following the classical models of the Cremonese School of the 17th and 18th centuries. He employs his own reddish-brown varnish recipe which is composed of a mixture of linseed oil and alcohol. To date he has made over 60 instruments: violins, violas, and cellos and copies of original Baroque instruments which are played by soloists and members of various orchestras. He furthermore restores, repairs and adjusts instruments. He is a member of A.L.I. (Italian Association of Professional Violin Makers). |
