Dedicated to works by artists of the so called "International Gothic" thath flourished between the end of the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th century. From the left entering, the famous Adoration of the Magi, by Lorenzo Monaco, teacher of Beato Angelico (circa 1420), bright and fantastic work by this Sienese artist who was active in Florence and became one of the major late Gothic painters.
One the wall in front is the Adoration of the Magi by Gentile da Fabriano, formerly in the church of St. Trinità. Gentile is a late Gothic artist, fantastic and courtly, while his deep color and plastic values are already Renaissance. On the following wall, by the same artist: Four Saints, fragment of a work once in the Quaratesi Chapel in San Niccolò, dated about 1424. Next the large Incoranation of the Virgin by Lorenzo Monaco (1413). On the small back wall, the graceful and imaginative Tebaide, representing the life of the hermist in the desert, belived by some critics to be by Gherardo Starnina, and by others, by the hand of Beato Angelico, during the period when Masaccio's influence was greatly felt.
