"Bronze Mercury by Giambologna"
The copies of Giambologna's original bronze Mercury are executed in the traditional manner, using the Lost Wax Process, and finished by hand. Giambologna (1529-1608) was known to have worked on a number of fountains for private formal gardens this protector of merchants and messenger of the gods springing from the breath of Aeolus completed the fountain of Villa Medici in Rome, in 1598. The statue was returned to Florence in 1780.
