18th Century villa situated in the countryside between Florence and Pisa
I Melograni Bed & Breakfast is run by a friendly Italian/English family in the original part of an old 18th Century villa situated in the countryside between Florence and Pisa. An ideal base for touring all the famous historical towns, Florence 25 mins, Siena 1 hour, Lucca 45 mins, Pisa 50 mins, San Gimignano 45 mins and only 1 hour away from the beautiful beaches of Versilia. A typical Tuscan breakfast of coffee and brioches, toast , jams, fruit juice and locally produced honey is served in the garden where you can relax and enjoy the lovely Tuscan views before you begin your daily escursions. This 18th century villa has four large bedrooms each furnished in a typical Tuscan style with wooden beams and cotto floors. To avoid impossible parking in Florence we recommend the train ride, which takes 25 minutes, runs alongside the River Arno, and gives some beautiful views of little hilltop towns. For guests travelling without a car we offer a free lift to the train station after breakfast where they can easily travel to all major towns. There are nice family trattoria's nearby, one of which serves an unusual local Tuscan dish of 'Gnocchi with stinging nettle leaves'.
